NIH To Hold Teleconference on Cell Phone Cancer Study, Tomorrow, May 27

Report on NTP Study Findings Will Be Posted on the Internet

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is planning to hold a briefing on the National Toxicology Program’s (NTP) cell phone study tomorrow, May 27. The exact time of the teleconference has not yet been set.

The NIH press office is saying that a report on the study findings will be posted on the Internet tomorrow.

For more on the NTP study, see the story we ran yesterday:
“Cell Phone Radiation Boosts Cancer Rates in Animals”

Here is the text of what the NIH press office has been sending out in response to requests for more information:

“We expect the report of the study’s findings to be published tomorrow. We will share the link as soon as it is live.

“This study in mice and rats is under review by additional experts. It is important to note that previous human, observational data collected in earlier, large-scale population-based studies have found limited evidence of an increased risk for developing cancer from cell phone use.”

The NIH added this background:

“The cell phone radiofrequency radiation (RFR) study is led by the NTP, headquartered at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. The NTP will post a report of the study’s findings on a prepublication website at http://biorxiv.org.”
